Competitions
The competition rules are basically the same each year:
- music competition
- 64Kb intro competition
- demo competition
- wild competition
Apart from these competitions, there will be ample room for showing other
kinds of productions.
General rule: entries may not have competed in a competition before,
except when they were disqualified or not selected for (dis)play.
The rules for these competitions are:
music competition
- The song must either be stored in the MP3 music format, or must be
a module (MOD, XM, IT etc.).
- Only computer based music is allowed.
- A current version of WinAmp will be used to play the song if stored
in MP3 format, or xmplay otherwise, using the default settings.
- No copyrighted material may be used.
- The song will be played for a maximum of 5 minutes.
64Kb intro competition
- The intro must run on Windows 98 and Windows 2000 with DirectX 8.1 and
OpenGL installed.
- The intro must consist of one executable, with a maximum size of 65536
bytes.
- The intro must play music.
- No copyrighted or otherwise 'borrowed' material may be used, unless the
origin of the material is clearly shown in the startup or end credits, and
in the info file1.
- The intro will be shown for a maximum of 15 minutes.
demo competition
- The demo must run on Windows 98 and Windows 2000 with DirectX 8.1 and
OpenGL installed.
- The maximum ZIPped demo size is 10Mb (although a smaller filesize is
greatly appreciated).
- The demo must play music.
- No copyrighted or otherwise 'borrowed' material may be used, unless the
origin of the material is clearly shown in the startup or end credits, and
in the info file1.
- The demo will be shown for a maximum of 15 minutes.
wild competitions
- No rules really, we'll see what comes along. A VCR is present to
show videotaped entries.
1You may omit such an on-screen message in the final version,
as long as the party version clearly shows you are not using original
material.
